Paul Peeters on upcoming aviation climate deal in main media

Tuesday, September 27, 2016

Paul Peeters, Centre for Sustainable Tourism and Transport, was interviewed by NRC, Radio1, Volkskrant, Nieuwsuur (television), NOS.nl and de Standaard, in advance of this week’s ICAO Assembly.

This week, the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) is deciding on a number of issues, including a new efficiency standard for aircraft and a global system for CO2 compensation for aviation (Global Market-Based Measures – GMBM). In the interviews, Paul is critical about the solutions proposed, and worried about the likely outcomes, which will not be enough to put aviation on par with the climate deal closed in Paris last year (where aviation was not discussed).
