| Education: | Pieter Piket, Ph.D. (1960) is senior lecturer at NHTV. Piket studied International Managerial Economics at Tilburg University (Netherlands, 1978 -1985). He conducted his Ph.D. research at CentER, the world-class business & economics research institute of Tilburg University (1987-1992). His Ph.D. thesis was about the commercial policy of the European Union with regard to the Central and Eastern European Countries. During his research he worked for some time as a Visiting Research Fellow at the Academy of Economics in Cracow (Poland). |
| Career: | In 1992 Pieter started his career at NHTV as general office manager at NHTV International Services, its international tourism educational project office (1992-1997). He combined this main task with part-time assignments as project manager, consultant and senior lecturer at the joint NHTV – University of Humberside (UK) MBA programme. Since 1997 Pieter has been working as senior lecturer at the International Tourism Studies Department of NHTV. In the framework of the NHTV lecturer exchange programme he visited the Northern Arizona University (USA) as Visiting Associate Professor in the Departments of Business Administration and Hotel and Restaurant Management. Since 1 August 2008 he has been working as well as Economic Research Fellow for the CSTT. Pieter is a member of the Royal Dutch Economic Society and the Travel and Tourism Research Association, the International Association for Tourism Economics and the World Economics Association. He is a member of the Advisory Editorial Boards of the “European Journal of Tourism, Hospitality and Recreation” and the “Indian Journal of International Tourism & Hospitality Research”. |
