CSTT participation at International Conference on Tourism, Climate Change and Sustainability

Paul Peeters and Eke Eijgelaar both presented papers at the International Conference on Tourism, Climate Change and Sustainability held at Bournemouth University on 13-14 September 2012. Paul was also member of a panel discussion with representatives from UNWTO, British Airways, UNEP DTIE, UNESCO MAB and TUI Travel PLC.

The conference was organised by the International Centre for Tourism and Hospitality Research (ICTHR), Bournemouth University, with the aim to debate the broader conceptual ideas and contested relationships between climate change, sustainability and tourism as well as to examine worldwide responses and exchange cutting-edge research.

Paul’s presentation was titled ‘’ Mitigating tourism’s greenhouse gas emissions: a global transport and tourism modelling approach’’ and Eke’s “Expansion and divergence: a closer look at the carbon footprint of Dutch holidaymakers’’. For the full programme see here.
